Drivers are asked to find alternative routes while the crossing is closed.

From the press release:

Beginning Monday night, July 1, 2013, at 8 p.m. through Tuesday morning, July 2, 2013, at 8 a.m., Union Pacific Railroad will close the crossing on Ajo Way between Park Avenue and Sixth Avenue. The closure is needed to install new track extensions. When complete, the railroad track work will improve pedestrian and bicycle access across the tracks.

The work is in connection with the multi-use path improvement on Ajo Way from Second Avenue to Park Avenue and is also part of The Loop system.

Motorists will have to seek alternate routes during this time. Message boards and detour signs are in place to direct traffic.

Approach the area cautiously and please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in this area.
