Road crews will start smoothing out two streets near the Tucson Mall this weekend.

Crews will begin resurfacing West Auto Mall Drive between West Wetmore and North Oracle roads, and Wetmore from Oracle to North First Avenue, according to a City of Tucson news release.

Workers will start lowering manhole and water valve covers on Auto Mall Drive and then on Wetmore from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sunday until Thursday.

On May 4, crews will begin removing asphalt and repaving Auto Mall Drive, which is scheduled to be completed by May 6.

Crews will then move to Wetmore and perform similar work.

One lane of travel in each direction will remain open during the project, which is expected to be completed on May 29.

The resurfacing work is part of the $100 million, five-year Road Recovering bond program.
