Road crews are preparing to repave a stretch of East Sixth Street between the Warehouse District, north of downtown, and the University of Arizona.

Crews have begun lowering manhole and water valve covers along Sixth Street, which will be repaved between North Ferro Avenue, west of Sixth Avenue, and North Park Avenue.

The utility lowering work will take place from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. between today and Friday, with travel reduced to one lane in each direction.

On Monday, crews will start removing asphalt and repaving Sixth Street.

Crews will perform the work from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. until the project is complete, which is expected to be July 29.

At least one lane of travel will remain open during the repaving work.
