On Thursday, May 29, 2014, Arizona Fisher House Foundation (AFHF) and the Southern Arizona Veterans Health Care System (SAVAHCS) will recognize Vantage West Credit Union for its generous commitment of $100,000. AFHF is raising $3,000,000 to be matched by the national Fisher House Foundation to build a Fisher House on the SAVAHCS campus where military and veterans' families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving medical treatment.

In announcing the gift, Robert D. Ramirez, President/CEO Vantage West Credit Union said, "Vantage West Credit Union has a philosophy of giving back to the communities we serve. The Fisher House provides an important service to our military veterans who have done so much for us. We would encourage other local businesses to join Vantage West in supporting this worthy cause."

In acknowledging the contribution, Dr. Dana Staggs, Chairman of the Arizona Fisher House Foundation Board, said "Vantage West Credit Union's commitment and continued support of our veterans, brave service men and women and their families cannot be overstated."

Jonathan H. Gardner, Director, Southern Arizona VA Health Care System added that, "Fisher Houses are built on the premise that a family's love is good medicine and when a loved one is ill or injured a Fisher House unites veteran families, relieving the financial and emotional strain of being away from home. The support from Vantage West is a big step in making the Arizona Fisher House a reality."
