The" target="_blank">Arizona Daily Star's new app for iPad became available recently in the App Store.

The app - available at no charge during this free introductory period - is designed for easy navigation and quick reading on an iPad.

The home page of the app includes "ribbons" for top stories of the day, other news, sports, weather, video, entertainment, opinion, obituaries and our Spanish-language La Estrella de Tucsón coverage.

Other sections of the app include more news, sports and entertainment coverage.

The app's features include the ability to save articles for future reading or share them via Twitter or Facebook.

This is the second iPad app for the Star, the other version is tied to the Star's "e-edition," a replica of the daily paper. 

There's also an Arizona Daily Star mobile app for Android and iPhone.

The apps, designed for mobile devices with the Android or iPhone operating system, are free and nearly identical.

The Android and iPhone apps include breaking news and alerts, photo slide shows, video, classified ads, obituaries and sharing tools for social-media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. The apps also let you search for local stories we've published dating to the beginning of 2004.

The weather feature of the apps includes current conditions (displayed in the portrait orientation of your phone) or a five-day forecast (turn the phone sideways into landscape orientation).

Search for "Arizona Daily Star Mobile" in the Android Marketplace or on the iTunes App Store for the version designed for your Android or iPhone.

And if you are a University of Arizona sports fan you need the newest version of our Wildcat Extra app.

The app is free. It's compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. An Android version of the Wildcat Extra app is also available.

The mobile app will keep University of Arizona sports fans up to date with exclusive Wildcats coverage and scores even while they are on the go.

If you had the 2010-11 sports season's version of the app, please discontinue using it, delete it from your device and get the new version.
