Phoenix-based developer Vintage Partners plans to demolish the Coxco gas station at the northwest corner of Oracle and Ina roads and build a 3,600-square-foot retail building for a mattress store.

It would be the latest change at the busy intersection, which was reconstructed last year. The plaza on the southwest corner is under construction to allow a larger Whole Foods store.

At the mattress store site, the developer also would install sidewalks on Oracle Road, and add bicycle parking and an 8-foot tall steel sculpture by local artist Steven Derks. Parking would be behind the store.

The Oro Valley Conceptual Design Review Board will discuss the plans at its 6 p.m. meeting Tuesday at Town Hall, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive.

If the design board approves it, the plan still must be approved by the Oro Valley Town Council.
