When two detectives from the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control walked into a Tucson bar they found a cloud of marijuana smoke, an intoxicated bouncer and witnessed two bar fights.

The Runway Bar & Grill paid a $7,500 fine last month for the incident in February. Violations included an intoxicated employee on duty, allowing disorderly patrons to remain on the premises and failure to protect the safety of patrons.

When the investigators went to inspect Runway, 2102 S. Alvernon Way, they saw a fight spill out of the bar, with two men “shoving each other and screaming.” The security staff watched and allowed one of the men back into the bar, a report says.

Then there was a second fight, which included a man assaulting a woman and then pointing a gun at her, the report says.

One of the detectives drew a gun during the fight. No shots were fired.

The state agency previously issued a warning letter to Runway in 2012 for accepting unauthorized forms of ID.
