A 14-year-old boy driving a car with two other children in the vehicle died Monday night after being involved in a rollover crash in Casa Grande.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. on South Shires Road near West Arica Road, Tim Gaffney, a spokesman for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, said in a news release.

The teen took the car from his family without permission and was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the car, causing it to roll several times, the release said.

The underage driver was not wearing his seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle when it rolled, the release said. A 9-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The driver was taken to a hospital, where he later died, the release said.
