School registration opens at TV Lutheran

Tanque Verde Lutheran Church Preschool/Kindergarten will begin registering students for the 2011-12 school year at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The school has classes for 2-, 3- and 4-year-olds, and full-day kindergarten. It is located at 8625 E. Tanque Verde Road.

Historic texts topic for series of lectures

The University Libraries Special Collections at the University of Arizona library will host a series of lectures on historic texts.

Professors from the UA's German, English and history departments will talk about texts from the 13th, 16th and 17th centuries in three separate lectures.

All will take place at the UA Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.

The lectures are:

• "The Manessische Liederhandschrift - The Glory of Thirteenth-Century Book Illustrations in Southern Germany," from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

• "The Thrice Great Hermes: The First English Translation of Writings Attributed to an Egyptian God (1657)," from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 15.

• "The Golf Book: Playing and Praying in Late Medieval and Early Modern Europe," from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 22.


Black History Month celebrated with dance

The Barbea Williams Performing Company and a host of other dance groups will celebrate Black History Month with the performance of "Legacies of Africa."

The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 25, and at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Dunbar Culture Center, 325 W. Second St.

Other groups and performers will include Axe' Capoeira Arizona, the University of Arizona Afrikana Dance Ensemble and Anton Smith, co-director of The Human Project.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
