The recipient of this week's Ben's Bell is Arlene Doran, a counselor at Anna Henry Elementary School.
She was nominated by Elizabeth Berry, whose son attends the school.
Berry said Doran provides tremendous support for the students and families she works with.
"From being a shoulder to cry on for families and students alike, to working with kids, their families and the community, there isn't anything that Arlene can't do," Berry wrote in her nomination letter.
Doran helps make sure families in need have food all year long and gifts for the holidays.
"She has helped our family on numerous occasions whether it be helping us when we were going through a rough time, or helping my son work through coping since I have seizures and Kyle is the one that takes care of me," Berry wrote.
Berry wrote that staff members and families agree that Doran, who is retiring this year after working in the Tucson Unified School District for 18 years, is irreplaceable.
"What a true blessing she is to the lives of so many that she has touched," Berry wrote.
