What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”

Last week’s recipient: Erin Schmidt, who works at ITCAP in Tucson.

Nominated by: Cindy Bieger, a co-worker.

Why: For her dedication to volunteering in the community. She is a foster parent to several children; she has also rescued and cared for numerous abandoned puppies; and she recently hosted a diaper drive for the Southern Arizona Diaper Bank that collected nearly 3,400 diapers, Bieger wrote in her nomination letter.
