An Agua Prieta, Sonora man was taken into custody Wednesday for attempting to smuggle marijuana through the Douglas port of entry, authorities said.

Victor Manuel Tarango-Nuñez, 22, was referred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations, according to federal authorities.

Officers selected a Nissan truck for further inspection and a narcotics detection dog helped officers find 295 pounds of marijuana hidden throughout the truck.

The marijuana was valued at $147,500, stated a Customs and Border Protection news release.

The vehicle and marijuana were seized.
