An 18-year-old Mexican woman was arrested Wednesday after border agents in Nogales say she tried to walk into Arizona with heroin duct-taped to her midriff.

It is the third time in about a week that border agents in Nogales have found women trying to smuggle heroin across the border in Nogales in that fashion.

A 37-year-old woman from California was arrested earlier this week with eight pounds of heroin wrapped around her midriff. And on Feb. 21, an 18-year-old Nogales, Sonora woman was arrested with about a pound of heroin duct-taped under her bra, according to news releases from U.S. Customs and Border Enforcement.

In the most recent incident, agents say the 18-year-old was searched after a drug dog alerted to the teen as she waited to walk into Arizona.

The search found 3.4 pounds of heroin taped under her bra. The estimated street value of the heroin is $47,000, a news release said.

The woman was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
