Border Patrol agents arrested three Chinese nationals hidden in the trunk of a car at a checkpoint south of Tucson, officials said.
On Nov. 8, agents using a dog and an X-ray scanner determined that three people were being transported in the trunk of a Nissan Altima passing though the Interstate 19 checkpoint. The car was being driven by a U.S. resident, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection.
The driver was arrested and the three Chinese nationals were processed to be returned to their home country.
Other agents arrested a U.S. resident after about 80 pounds of marijuana was found in a Plymouth van at a checkpoint on Arizona 80 near Tombstone. The marijuana had a value of about $41,000.
