A 29-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for attempting to smuggle 26 pounds of cocaine into the United States through the Mariposa Port of Entry in Nogales, Ariz, officials said.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested Luis Bernardo Gortari-Contreras, of Magdalena, Sonora, after a CBP drug dog alerted to the presence of drugs in his Chevrolet SUV during a secondary inspection, an agency news release said. Officers found 10 packages of cocaine inside the vehicle’s headliner.
The drugs and vehicle were seized. Gortari was arrested.
