An Arizona man is accused of trying to smuggle 2.5 pounds of heroin across the border at Nogales by hiding it under his shirt, officials said.

Saul Beltran, 22, of Chandler, was stopped Monday as he walked across the Morley pedestrian crossing, according to a news release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Officers say they found three packages of heroin wrapped around Beltran's stomach and groin.

The heroin valued at about $36,000 was seized and Beltran was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
