A Douglas man was arrested Wednesday for attempting to smuggle $127,000 worth of marijuana at the Douglas port of entry.

The 19-year-old man was detained after a dog alerted officers to the drugs in the man’s Chevrolet truck, said U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.

During a search, officers found 37 packages of marijuana in the engine compartment and behind the seats of the truck.

The marijuana, which weighed more than 250 pounds, and the truck were seized.

The man was turned over to officials with Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
