A 19-year-old Douglas woman was arrested Thursday for attempting to smuggle more than 195 pounds of drugs through the Naco port of entry, federal authorities said.

The woman, who was driving a GMC SUV, was referred for further inspection after a drug-sniffing dog alerted to drugs in the vehicle’s tires, said U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.

Officers removed 20 metal boxes that contained nearly $98,000 worth of marijuana.

The woman was turned over to federal authorities, and the marijuana and vehicle were seized.
