A 50-year-old Sierra Vista woman was arrested Tuesday for attempting to smuggle about 56 pounds of marijuana through the Port of Naco, officials said.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers sent the woman for inspection when she attempted to cross in a Mazda sedan, according to a news release from the agency.
During the inspection, officers found 52 packages of marijuana in the vehicle.
The drugs, valued at nearly $28,000, and vehicle were seized. The woman was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
