A 24-year-old man reportedly from Tucson was killed in Nogales, Sonora, during a burst of violence that claimed several lives over the weekend.

The body of Jorge Luis Soto was found about 2:15 a.m. Monday inside a gray 1997 Chevy Tahoe with Arizona plates parked under a bridge on Highway 15 near Nogales International Airport, Sonora State Investigative Police reported.

Soto was shot twice, including once in the head. Investigators found two shell casings from a .40-caliber handgun at the scene, as well as an unfired bullet.

On Saturday afternoon, three men were fatally shot outside a shopping center in the El Greco neighborhood, police reported. The men were inside a 2007 Volkswagen Bora when a minivan pulled up and several gunmen opened fire.

An unidentified man who had a .38-caliber handgun in his waistband and two extra ammo clips died at the scene. Francisco Javier Balderrama Márquez, 39, of Hermosillo, was declared dead shortly after arriving at a hospital and Sergio David Ávila Núñez, 46, of Nogales, died from his wounds later that day.

Sunday morning, the body of Sergio Pérez Márquez, 42, of Nogales, Sonora, was found on Prolongación Chula Vista street. Police reports said he had been beaten and shot several times.

No arrests have been made.
