The University of Arizona will host a music and dance performance Friday featuring award-winning performer Tom Sullivan and the international cast of Up With People.

The gala will take place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in the UA Student Union's Grand Ballroom.

There will be four stages featuring Sullivan, a cast of 110 students from Up With People and other performers, such as folklorico dance group Grupo Danza Xunutzi.

A string quartet and classical guitarist will perform musical interludes. Local radio and television veteran Dana Cooper will be the master of ceremonies.

Ken Ashby and Maris Segal, known for their Super Bowl halftime productions, are the executive producers of the event.

The performance will feature a special video message from Mexican first lady Margarita Zavala de Calderón, who was invited to the performance but couldn't attend.

Money raised from the event will go to the University of Arizona Up With People Archives project.
