A group of business leaders will honor automotive mogul Jim Click Jr. today for his contribution to education in the Tucson area.
Click will receive the Raytheon Spirit of Education Award during a reception and ceremony at Loews Ventana Canyon.
University of Arizona President Ann Weaver Hart and Raytheon President Taylor W. Lawrence will host the event, which will last from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $75, with all of the money benefiting Tucson Values Teachers.
The ceremony will highlight Click's support for San Miguel High School, Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson, Junior Achievement of Arizona and other nonprofit groups, said Jacquelyn Jackson, executive director of Tucson Values Teachers.
"It's really shining a spotlight on all he's done for education," Jackson said. "He's made such a major contribution to education in our region."
This is the second annual award, which celebrates business investment in education in Arizona, she said.
The award and planning committee is comprised of numerous local businesses and organizations, including the Tucson Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities Inc.
