A 36-year-old man shot his father just before noon Saturday at a home outside Willcox before fatally shooting himself, sheriff's officials said.
The man arrived at his father's home about 11:40 a.m., went into the study and used a handgun to shoot the 62-year-old victim several times while he was seated at his desk, Carol Capas, spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, said in a press release.
The shooter's 38-year-old stepmother ran to a neighbor's house for help.
When the sheriff's SWAT team entered the home just before 3 p.m. they found the victim and the son dead, Capas said.
The investigation is ongoing.
