The Pima Animal Care Center, at 4000 N. Silverbell Road, is offering specials on animals that have been at the shelter for more than two weeks and for senior pets.

If a pet has been at the shelter longer than two weeks, that pet will be free. Dogs older than 5 years are free except for a $15 licensing fee.

The center, at 4000 N. Silverbell Road, will be open on holidays this month in addition to its regular hours. It will be open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving and Hanukkah (both Nov. 28) and Black Friday (Nov. 29).

On Thanksgiving, there will be a dog walk from 8 to 11 a.m., and adopters can set their own price for adopting, according to a press release from the shelter. The same will be true of adoption prices on Black Friday.

Generally shelter animals are $60. That includes licensing fees for dogs, as well as vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery if needed.

The county-run shelter is open seven days a week. On non-holidays, hours are noon-7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, except the last Sunday of the month, when it closes for deep cleaning.
