The Tucson Fire Department will conduct a controlled burn Wednesday at the Sweetwater Wetlands on the west side as part of the city’s mosquito abatement program.

The burn is expected to begin at 8:30 a.m. at the wetlands, 2667 W. Sweetwater Drive, just north of the Silverbell Golf Course.

The city wants residents to know there will be smoke in the area for the duration of the prescribed burn, Capt. Barrett Baker, spokesman for the TFD, said in a news release.
