A man has been arrested in connection with a traffic accident that killed a motorcyclist on Tucson's northwest side.

The crash happened shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of West Ina Road and North La Cholla Boulevard.

Richard Bean, 57, was riding his motorcycle south of the intersection.

A car driven by Anthony Valdez, 31, that was waiting to turn from La Cholla into the Walgreens parking lot on the corner failed to yield and turned in front of Bean, causing a collision, said Deputy Tracy Suitt of the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Bean, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to a hospital but died en route, Suitt said in a news release.

Valdez was arrested and is facing a charge of manslaughter. Investigators believe Valdez was impaired at the time of the crash, Suitt said.
