Alcohol was a factor in a head-on collision Friday night in Picture Rocks, a sheriff's official said.

A man driving a Ford Ranger pickup eastbound on Picture Rocks Road at about 9 p.m. crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a Dodge Ram pickup, Deputy Jesus Bañuelos, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff's Department, said in a news release. The crash occurred in the 10400 block of West Picture Rocks near North Van Ark Road.

The man driving the Ranger "was found in his truck going in and out of consciousness," Bañuelos said. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition. The man driving the Ram suffered minor injuries but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

"Alcohol was a factor in this collision, and a preliminary blood test indicated the driver of the Ford Ranger was more than double the legal limit," Bañuelos said.
