Four men were arrested Monday in connection with a carjacking at a convenience store on Tucson's south side.

At about 8:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a Quik Mart, 4280 E. Benson Highway, where the victim's vehicle was stolen at gunpoint, said Deputy Jesus Bañuelos, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Deputies searched the area, near South Alvernon Way, and received a tip of a possible location where the stolen vehicle could be found, Bañuelos said.

When deputies arrived at the location, a traffic stop was initiated, but the driver drove away. After a brief chase, the vehicle stopped and four men ran from the car.

The men were captured with the assistance of the department's helicopter unit and canine unit, said Bañuelos.

The four were booked into the Pima County jail. The men and the charges are:

  • Alejandro Medina Robles, 19, is facing armed robbery and theft of means of transportation.

• Richard Biebrich, 18, is facing armed robbery, theft of means of transportation and possession of a stolen firearm.

• Alejandro Luis Rubalcaba, 19, is facing unlawful use of means of transportation, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Michael Joseph Butierez, 18, is facing unlawful use of means of transportation.
