3 cocaine seizures in 1 day worth $12.1M
Border officers in Nogales, Ariz., made three separate cocaine seizures worth a combined $12.1 million in one day.
On Tuesday, officers were screening traffic coming from Mexico when they chose a tractor-trailer rig driven by a 34-year-old man for further inspection. A drug dog found 381 pounds of cocaine hidden in the vehicle's fuel tanks, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
A few hours later, officers were inspecting the vehicle of a Mexican man, his wife, and their two children when a drug dog detected 31 pounds of cocaine hidden in a door panel.
Soon after that, a drug dog detected 22 pounds of cocaine in the cargo area of a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old Mexican man.

Arrest warrant issued in fatal hotel shooting
An arrest warrant has been issued for a man in connection with a fatal shooting at a south-side hotel last week.
Michael Antonio Rivas, 26, was named in a warrant on suspicion of first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and drive-by shooting in connection with a Nov. 5 shooting at the Red Roof Inn, 3704 E. Irvington Road, according to a Pima County Sheriff's Department news release.
Rivas was suspected of leaving the hotel in a gray Dodge pickup truck after the shooting.
Patrick Martin Polanco, 27, was found shot to death outside of the hotel. Another man, George Alvarez, 20, was dropped off at a hospital after the shooting.
Alvarez is also facing charges in connection with Polanco's slaying, officials have said.
An out-of-town couple detained early in the investigation were robbed by Polanco and the two others before the shootout, investigators have said.

Motorcyclist killed in crash is identified
A man who died in a motorcycle collision Thursday on East Golf Links Road near South Pantano Parkway has been identified as John Lauther, 60, police said.
Lauther was headed east on Golf Links at South Perillo Drive when a vehicle made a left turn from Perillo onto Golf Links, colliding with the motorcycle, said Tucson Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Diana Lopez.
Lauther died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, Lopez said.
No citations were issued at the time of the collision.
4.5 tons of marijuana were seized this week
Federal officials seized more than 4.5 tons of marijuana this week, according to a news release.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents seized 7,005 pounds of marijuana in two incidents Wednesday.
A 5 a.m. raid Wednesday of a Nogales, Ariz., business yielded 4,520 pounds of the drug being loaded from a tractor-trailer rig into a cargo van. A man was arrested and faces federal drug- smuggling charges. Later that day, agents came across an abandoned van that had 2,485 pounds of the drug stashed inside.
On Friday, close to the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in Lukeville border agents found 1,389 pounds of marijuana in an abandoned car.
About 12 hours later agents found more than 565 pounds of marijuana in a tractor-trailer rig that tried to avoid a checkpoint near Pearce.
