A Sonora man was arrested Sunday after border officers say they found $951,000 worth of methamphetamine hidden in his car.

Lucio Leonardo Valle-Bustamante, 37, of Nogales, Sonora, was driving a Mercury sedan through the Mariposa Port of Entry when a drug dog alerted officers to the presence of drugs, a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

Officers found 48 packages weighing a total of about 60 pounds hidden throughout the vehicle.

In a separate incident Saturday night at the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry, Loribeth M. Torres, 34, of Tucson, was arrested as she tried to walk into Arizona.

A drug dog helped officers find about a pound of heroin hidden in Torres' clothes. It had an estimated street value of about $17,000, the agency said.

Valle and Torres were referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
