A Tucson man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor for possessing child pornography.

Pima County Superior Court Judge Jane Eikleberry sentenced Kurt Matthew Quimby on Monday. Quimby, 32, pleaded guilty in July to two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor under the age of 15.

Deputy Pima County Attorney Alan Goodwin asked the judge to impose the 17-year maximum sentence, saying Quimby not only possessed the child porn images but also had established websites to sell the images.

Quimby’s attorney, Tatiana Struthers, said police and prosecutors never established her client set up the websites.

Struthers said her client spoke openly to police about the child porn images he had and took responsibility for his crimes.

Quimby apologized, saying he realized his sexual impulses helped to facilitate the abuse of children.

After prison, Quimby will serve lifetime probation.
