A woman was found dead in the Pantano Wash Tuesday, and a man has been detained in connection with her death, authorities said.

Tucson police received a 911 call shortly before 5 p.m. about a woman in possible distress in the wash in the 6400 block of East Grant Road, said Deputy Tom Peine, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

When officers arrived, they found a woman, in her 50s, dead in the wash, Peine said. He said the location is near East Tanque Verde Road.

Authorities received a description of a man who was possibly involved in the incident, Peine said.

Deputies and Tucson police officers searched the area and a man was detained, said Peine.

Sheriff's homicide investigators were on scene late Tuesday night.

No further information was immediately available.
