A Douglas man was arrested Wednesday for attempting to smuggle more than 220 pounds of marijuana, federal authorities said.

The 34-year-old man, who was driving a Mercury van, was stopped for a further inspection at the Douglas port of entry.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found 151 packages of marijuana, valued at about $110,748, throughout the van, authorities said.

The drugs and van were seized and the suspect was turned over to federal investigators.
