A man who led police on a car chase was sentenced to three years in prison on Tuesday.
Pima County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over Ricardo Valdez and an accomplice in November 2012 because the deputies suspected the men in recent burglary.
Valdez and the other man then fled, leading the deputies on a short chase.
During the chase the truck Valdez or the accomplice drove headed directly toward a police vehicle, causing the deputy to swerve to avoid a collision.
The truck later crashed and rolled over, at which time both men fled on foot. Deputies arrested them a short time later.
Valdez pleaded guilty in November to aggravated assault and fleeing from law enforcement.
In addition to prison, Pima County Superior Court Judge Christopher Browning sentenced Valdez to three years probation following his release.
