An early-morning fire heavily damaged a south-side home Saturday, displacing a family and leaving their home condemned.

Fire crews reached the burning home at 3:37 a.m. based on a 911 call. The home is in the 3700 block of East Dover Stravenue, near Interstate 10 and South Alvernon Way, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Barrett Baker.

By the time firefighters arrived, flames had engulfed a truck and gutted much of the home, Baker said. Crews cut off a section of roof and controlled the fire in about 17 minutes. Damage was estimated at $60,000, and no cause was given immediately for the fire.

The Red Cross was aiding the displaced family of six, Baker said.
