A new judge was sworn in Friday at an investiture ceremony at Pima County Superior Court.

Judge Brenden Griffin officially took the bench after Gov. Jan Brewer announced his appointment in May.

Presiding Pima County Superior Court Judge Sarah R. Simmons swore in Griffin.

He will preside over criminal cases.

Griffin is a graduate of the University of San Diego Law School and worked as a judicial clerk at the Illinois Court of Appeals.

He was an attorney with Lewis and Roca from 1996 to 2011 and later with Gabroy, Rollman and Bosse until his appointment to the bench.
