A deputy was involved in a shooting outside a Walgreens on the northwest side Wednesday night.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop at 1415 W. River Road, near North Flowing Wells Road, after 9 p.m., said Deputy Jesus Bañuelos, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

The deputy was not injured, Bañuelos said.

He said the man who was pulled over was not hit by gunfire.

Northwest Fire District paramedics were sent to the Walgreens at 9:22 p.m. and treated the man, who was taken to a hospital, said Capt. Adam Goldberg, a fire district spokesman.

Bañuelos said the man, who resisted arrest, said he was injured.

As a precautionary measure he was taken to a hospital, Bañuelos said. No other information was released by officials.
