Customs and Border Protection officers and Border Patrol agents made several arrests and drug seizures in the last couple of days.

A female Mexican national was arrested Wednesday for attempting to smuggle nearly a pound of heroin through the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales.

Selena Andrea Perez-Cruz, 18, was selected by CBP officers for an additional inspection when she tried to enter through the pedestrian lane.

During the search, an officer found a package with about 13.4 ounces of heroin tucked inside her bra, a news release said. The drug was seized and Perez-Cruz was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

On Thursday, two women traveling in a shuttle van were arrested at the Interstate 19 checkpoint after Border Patrol agents found six bags of methamphetamine, valued at $58,700, hidden inside two buckets of chicken. The women face federal prosecution, according to a news release.
