A marketing and media arts teacher at Ironwood Ridge High School was arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexual misconduct with a female student.
Robert Richard Brush, 31, was detained at the school, 2475 W. Naranja Drive, about noon and then taken to the Oro Valley Police Department station for questioning, said Lt. Kara Riley, a department spokeswoman.
Ironwood Ridge High School is in Amphitheater Public Schools.
Brush was booked into the Pima County jail on one count of sexual misconduct with a minor, Riley said.
The victim was enrolled in one of Brush's classes, said Todd Jaeger, associate superintendent and general counsel for the district.
Brush, who was hired by the district in August 2012, was placed on administrative leave, Jaeger said.
"The district intends to provide information to parents and others as information becomes known to us, and as circumstances permit," Jaeger said.
The investigation, which began Monday, is in its preliminary stages, and additional charges could be pending, Riley said.
Anyone with additional information about Brush is asked to call Oro Valley police at 229-4900 or 88-CRIME.
