KVOA chief meteorologist Rob Guarino was arrested on suspicion of DUI early Friday.

Guarino was stopped by the Pima County Sheriff's Department at North Campbell Avenue and East River Road at 2:04 a.m.

He was cited and released on a charge of misdemeanor DUI, said Deputy Tom Peine, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman. The circumstances surrounding the stop were not released Friday.

Guarino, 49, has worked at KVOA since 2011. He graduated from the University of Delaware and has worked as a meteorologist in Syracuse, N.Y.; Indianapolis; Philadelphia; and Albuquerque.

KVOA President and General Manager Bill Shaw said Guarino's job is safe and he will not face suspension. "He's here and he's going to be here going forward," Shaw said. Guarino was on the air for the 10 p.m. newscast Friday.
