Former Tucson police Officer Martin Ward, 29, was arrested by U.S. marshals Friday night in Prescott.
An arrest warrant had been issued for Ward, who is suspected of distributing child pornography on the Internet, said Sgt. Chris Widmer of the Tucson Police Department. Ward was arrested at a motel.
Ward was hired as an officer in April 2007. He resigned last December rather than be fired as a result of an unrelated internal investigation, Widmer said.
In March, detectives began investigating online sharing and distribution of child pornography in the Tucson area. On Thursday, police searched a home in the 9200 block of East Palm Tree Drive, near East 22nd Street and South Harrison Road, and found child-pornography videos, Widmer said.
