A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with a fatal crash early Saturday in which a Tucson man was killed, police said.
Malcolm Milliner is facing charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault and endangerment, said Sgt. Maria Hawke, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.
Police say drugs, alcohol or both were factors in the crash. Milliner was booked into the Pima County jail Thursday.
Francisco Yanez, 19, a passenger in a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe that Milliner was driving, was killed when the vehicle crashed just before 4 a.m. on West Valencia Road and South Santa Clara Avenue, police said.
Milliner was driving west in the median lane on Valencia when he struck the median curb several times before losing control of the SUV. The vehicle rolled over the median into the eastbound lanes of traffic, police said.
Yanez was thrown from the SUV, which came to rest on top of him. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Milliner and an 18-year-old passenger were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Two other passengers, ages 17 and 19, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
No one in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt, police said.
