A Tucson man accused of two burglaries and drug possession was sentenced to prison on Friday.

Nestor Mata-Perez pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary, possession of a dangerous drug and solicitation to possess a dangerous drug.

Pima County Superior Court Judge Howard Fell sentenced Mata-Perez to 2½ years in prison followed by three years’ probation.

Mata-Perez, 23, apologized for his crimes, saying drugs had ruined his life.

“I was never like this,” he said. “I started using meth and everything went downhill.”

Mata-Perez was charged in four separate cases in 2012 and 2013.
