A man in the Oro Valley area was arrested in connection with child pornography via the Internet, said Tucson police.

Jesus Miguel Navarro Tovar, 31, is facing 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and was booked into the Pima County jail Thursday, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

In December, TPD's Internet crimes against children unit developed information that a person in the Oro Valley area was downloading and sharing child pornography on the Internet, Dugan said.

On Wednesday, detectives and federal marshals served a search warrant at a house in the 8200 block of North Northern Avenue, which is in a neighborhood west of North Oracle Road and north of West Magee Road.

Detectives found evidence that implicated Tovar who was then taken into custody, said Dugan.

Detectives urge parents to continually monitor their children's social media accounts for their safety.
