A Tucson man was arrested after police said he used Facebook to try to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old girl.

The girl's mother first told police about inappropriate conversations her daughter was having with a man on Facebook on March 24, a Tucson police news release says.

Detectives learned the man was telling the girl he was much younger and that he had arranged to meet the girl for sex acts, promising to pay her.

Alexander Zumot, 24, was arrested Tuesday by a team of U.S. marshals when he arrived at a designated meeting place. Zumot was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of aggravated luring of a minor for sex, attempted child prostitution and unlawful age misrepresentation.

Police say Zumot might have had similar contact with other girls and ask that anyone with information call 911 or 88-CRIME.
