A 68-year-old man was killed Saturday in a head-on crash on Tucson’s south side.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 4:30 p.m. near West Ajo Way and South Lundy Avenue, east of South 12th Avenue, Sgt. Maria Hawke, a Tucson police spokeswoman, said in a news release.

The driver of a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder traveling west on West Ajo Way merged into a two-way left-turn lane to turn left onto 12th Avenue and crossed into the eastbound lanes of Ajo, crashing head-on into a 2005 Nissan Sentra driven by George Enrique Tequida, the release said.

The Pathfinder overturned and the Sentra spun and stopped on the side of the road.

Tequida was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Pathfinder had minor injuries.

Drugs or alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
