A pedestrian died at a hospital after he was struck in a hit-and-run Friday night on South Mission Road near West 36th Street.

The man was struck shortly after 7 p.m. in the 2800 block of Mission by a light-colored Chevrolet Trailblazer, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman. Initial reports were that the Trailblazer might be silver in color, Widmer said.

The driver fled south on Mission, Widmer said. The vehicle has significant front-end damage, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
