The girls swim coach at Mountain View High School was fired Friday.

In a letter to parents from Mountain View Principal Patricia Cadigan, she states that the firing was in response to the arrest Thursday of Bruce Rock.

Rock, 49, is facing five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

"I want to assure you that there is no indication that the charges leading to Mr. Rock's arrest involve a MUSD (Marana Unified School District) student or Mountain View High School," wrote Cadigan.

She informed parents that Justin Madison will be head coach for the girls swim team.

A Tucson Police Department investigation and the execution of a search warrant at Rock's home implicated Rock in uploading child pornography to a social media website, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a police spokesman.

The tip that led police to investigate came from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Widmer said.

Rock lives in the 8200 block of North Willow Blossom Drive. The neighborhood is south of West Cortaro Farms Road and east of Interstate 10.

Rock also is the owner and operator of the Pima Aquatic Club. It rented pool time at Marana High School.

According to the Pima Aquatic Club website, Rock moved to Tucson in 2004, and started coaching the county league team at Northwest YMCA in 2007, building it to a USA swim team. He has coached many years as a USA head coach and at Mountain View High School, the website said Thursday.

Below is the letter Cadigan sent to parents of Mountain View High School students:

To the Parents of Mountain View High School:

Because we value the importance of communicating with our parents, I am writing you regarding the arrest of Bruce Rock, the Girls Swim Coach at Mountain View. The media is reporting that Mr. Rock was arrested for allegedly uploading child pornography to a social media website.

Please know that we take this situation extremely seriously. I want to assure you that there is no indication that the charges leading to Mr. Rock's arrest involve a MUSD student or Mountain View High School. I recognize that you may have questions and may also feel a range of emotions surrounding this. However, we are limited in the information that may be publicly disclosed.

We will be terminating Mr. Rock's services immediately, and he will not be returning to Mountain View High School. Mr. Justin Madison will be assuming the duties as the head girls swim coach.

Mr. Garelick and I met with the swim team this morning to provide information and address concerns. Counselors are available to provide support for the students as well. The staff at Mountain View High School is committed to providing the best educational experience for our students. I want to thank you for your continued support of our great school.
