A Mexican national was arrested Thursday at a Nogales crossing on charges of attempting to smuggle nearly 5 pounds of heroin into the United States, officials said.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Ramon Octavio Urbina-Cano, 22, for an additional inspection of his Jeep SUV at the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry. After a CBP dog alerted to the presence of drugs within the front bumper, officers removed the heroin, worth nearly $68,000, the agency said in a news release.

The drugs and vehicle were seized. Urbina was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
