Police have identified a 50-year-old man who died after being struck in a hit-and-run on Tucson's west side Friday night.

Daniel Cordova was struck by an SUV while walking in the southbound lanes of Mission Road near West 36th Street shortly after 7 p.m., said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson police spokesman.

Cordova was taken to a hospital where he died soon after.

The vehicle left the scene. Witnesses described it as a light color, small to medium size SUV. Police said it might have front end or windshield damage.

Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME (882-7463).
